**ANIMAL SHELTER ASSISTANT-PART TIME POSITION
The City of Cushing is currently accepting applications for the position of Animal Shelter Assistant. This is a part time position and there are no benefits provided.
HOURS This position will work no more than 29 hours per week. The work schedule may be flexible to work either mornings or afternoon hours, will include weekends. Pay is $10/hr.
NATURE OF WORK This position provides general support work that involves handling and caring for animals brought to the City of Cushing Animal Shelter. The work will also involve the cleaning and routine maintenance of the shelter, including animals housing areas, and other interior and exterior work areas; maintenance of records and assisting shelter visitors.
Applicants must be 18 years or older.
EXAMPLES OF WORK
Feed, and care for adoptable animals, stray animals, impounded animals, isolated animals and sick, unruly and aggressive animals as required.
Move animals among various areas within the shelter as required in a safe, effective and humane manner.
Clean kennels, cages, crates, countertops, windows, exam rooms, and other work areas.
Sweep and mop floors, wash dishes, launder animal bedding, and take out trash.
Restock cleaning and animal care supplies.
Assist shelter customers by providing information regarding animal adoptions; facilitate prospective adopter and animal meet and greets.
Perform other related duties as required.
Assist with euthanasia as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Graduation from High School or its equivalent. One year of work experience, or previous work with animals, livestock, or exotic animals such as birds, is desirable.

FIREFIGHTER CAREER OPPORTUNITY
The City of Cushing, Oklahoma Fire Department is currently seeking highly motivated men and women who are passionate about serving the public and delivering the highest level of professional service as a firefighter. The Cushing Fire Department is a progressive and dynamic municipal department located in Payne County, Oklahoma. The firefighter position is a non-standard, rotating work, shift schedule (nine 24 hour shifts in a 27-day work period, 24 hours on-duty and 48 hours off with on-call expectations), requiring weekend and holiday work. It is the goal of the Cushing Fire Department and the community to provide ALS care to the citizens it serves. Preference will be given to applicants who possess a National Registry and/or State of Oklahoma paramedic license.

Those candidates that achieve a passing score for both tests will move forward to the interview process. Structured interviews with a Cushing Fire Department interview panel will be scheduled for those that successfully pass both testing sessions. We anticipate those interviews will be conducted within one (1) week of the completion of all testing. After the interview those candidates selected by the interview panel will move forward in the process by sitting for an interview with the Fire Chief. Successful candidates who receive a conditional job offer will be required to successfully pass a psychological and medical exam, urine drug screen, and pre-employment background screening. Cushing firefighters are required to establish residency so as to be able to report for work within 20 minutes. Starting salary for Firefighter is $32,084.40/yearly and $35,084.40/yearly with Paramedic certification.
